Isaiah 40:31
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Reflection
We live in a world that expects everything now. Messages arrive in seconds. News travels instantly. Answers are only a few keystrokes away. Every day we’re reminded that faster is better, and waiting feels like something to avoid.
Then we come to God.
And suddenly the pace changes.
Prayer isn’t a search engine. Faith isn’t overnight delivery. God isn’t rushed by the urgency of our timetable.
Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of the journey, especially when we watch other people receiving answers that we’re still praying for. It’s easy to wonder if God has forgotten us or if somehow we’ve been overlooked.
Isaiah reminds us that waiting on the Lord is never wasted. It isn’t passive resignation; it is patient confidence. It is choosing to believe that even when nothing seems to be happening, God is still at work. Waiting becomes the place where God renews our strength, deepens our faith, and prepares us for what lies ahead.
Sometimes the greatest temptation during the waiting is to take back what we’ve already placed in God’s hands. We begin to think, “Maybe I need to fix this myself.” Yet God’s invitation is not to take control but to remain faithful. The One who hears our prayers is also working in ways we cannot yet see.
Faith doesn’t eliminate the waiting.
Faith changes how we wait.
Prayer
Faithful God,
Waiting isn’t easy. There are times when I become discouraged, impatient, or wonder if You have heard my prayers at all.
Teach me to wait with confidence instead of fear. Help me resist the temptation to take back what I have already placed in Your hands. Strengthen my heart when the answers seem delayed, and remind me that Your timing is never careless or late.
While I wait, renew my strength. Deepen my faith. Shape my character. Help me remember that You are never inactive, even when I cannot yet see what You are doing.
Thank You for hearing every prayer, holding every promise, and faithfully working in ways I cannot yet understand.
